DCUO Receives Another Patch

Performance and stability issues being patched? Yes please. New content? That's awesome. Today we received what is most likely the final patch for the DC Universe Online beta test for PS3 (Thanks Sancho!) With only 13 days until the game launches for PC and PS3, this patch might just be our window into what the final version will look like on launch day. Hopefully this clears up the issues many have been experiencing during testing. Check out all the game-play additions, user interface changes, and stability patching down below.

Top 5 Most Anticipated Games Of 2011

As 2010 is about to close out, I'm beginning to think about what 2011 will bring. This year we saw the likes of God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, and Grand Turismo 5. Next year is the biggest year in gaming for the Playstation 3, assuming some of the upcoming titles aren't pushed ahead to 2012. I've decided to list my personal top 5 PS3 games that I'm looking forward to most. I really don't expect this list to mirror other gaming sites, but that's what spurred me to write it in the first place.

Smallville Re-Watch / The Pilot

I've been playing so many hours of the DC Universe Online beta, I needed a different type of DC storytelling. Today, I've decided to begin my Smallville re-watch. Hopefully this will be a re-watch of the entire series. At least, as of this moment, that's the plan. I just watched the season 1 Pilot tonight to see how I felt afterwards, and it's a pretty sure bet that I'll continue watching for awhile. Besides, I need something new to write about and hopefully Smallville will keep me entertained throughout the cold winter.

DCUO Post-Patch Patch

Only a few days since the huge 3gb patch we see yet another one. This one fixing multiple issues and visual glitches according to the full patch log posted on the official beta forums for DC Universe Online. Hopefully this will fix all (or some) of the freezing and loading screen hang-ups we've been experiencing often in the PS3 beta. For the full list of beta improvements, click below to continue reading.

DCUO PS3 Beta Receives a Hefty Update

Biggest. Patch. Ever. I've been in the PS3 Beta for about a week now, loving every minute of it. There have been a lot of technical issues though, and for those people still not sure about paying the upcoming $15 monthly fee, here is one reason people do pay. Major updates to fan requested issues. Check out the full list of DC Universe Online updates below.

The update is about 3gb to download, so it may take 30 minutes to an hour to download, depending on your connection.

PSP is Still Alive and Kicking

I still have the old fat PSP1000 laying around in my room somewhere, and although I haven't played it recently, I've put a huge number of hours into a handful of games: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Final Fantasy: Dissidia, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are probably my most played games for the handheld. I don't think I even purchased a PSP game this year, looks like things will change next year if Square-Enix has anything to say.

DC Universe Online PS3 Beta Impressions

In the DC Universe there's always a super-hero to save you in the nick of time.

It's a place where mischievous villains hatch diabolical schemes in a secret safe-house.

It's a place where your cape will never end up stuck over your head, causing you to crash or trip.

I've played the PS3 beta for about 3 days now and definitely know the direction that SOE are going with this fresh take on the immensely popular MMO genre.

DC Universe Online PS3 Playstation+ Beta!

How fitting is it that my 100th post on Bob's Blog is an extremely happy one! I purchased 3 months of PS+ service a few days ago as soon as I heard the news about the DCUO beta coming to the PS3. As of a few minutes ago the PS3 Store updated and voila, there sat the DCUO beta download in the PS+ section.

I'm extremely excited to experience this game, even though I realize it's currently only in beta form. It'll take a few hours to download the beta client before I can jump in, but I've heard it's totally worth the wait. Check out some wallpapers below.

Spike VGA Announcements

Tonight was Spike TV's annual video game award show. There weren't any huge reveals in my opinion, just some decent trailers, Army commercials, and some bad jokes from the various hosts. If you're interested in games like Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Batman: Arkham City, or a new Elder Scrolls game, read on

DC Universe PS3 Beta Has Begun

I'm not in the beta, yet. I Want to get that out of the way first of all. Anyone that pre-ordered the PS3 version of the game and sent away their receipts to SOE received their invites. I am expecting my invite soon however. Just the other day SOE announced on the Playstation Blog that ALL Playstation Plus subscribers are going to be receiving DC Universe Online PS3 beta invites. Immediately I signed up for a 3-month subscription for $20.

Little Big Planet 2 Beta Levels Will Blow Your Feeble Little Mind

With about 2 months remaining until the world finally gets their hands on this highly anticipated sequel, beta testers are still pumping out extraordinarily creative levels to play. This last video really surprised me, I should of known, but I had no idea LBP2 would be able to pull something like this off, in a closed beta to boot. Check out Sackenstein 3D, as well as a few others!

Classic Games You Might Not Remember

There are too many excellent classic console games to even begin writing about, so I tried to think back to what I played the most as a kid for only the Nintendo Entertainment System. I only got a new video game once or twice a year on special occasions, so there was plenty of opportunity to completely master those few games. There are several that I spent most of my time on, most of them being on the old NES. I'll also throw in some honorable mentions after I'm done with the main list of games.

Playstation 3 Trophy Hunting

It took me awhile to get some cash together to buy some new Playstation 3 games since this new 160gb system cost me $300. I now have a few games going at once and so I should be set until at least January when Little Big Planet 2 and Mass Effect 2 release.

This article will be discussion on the games I'm playing, as well as on each games trophies and perhaps some strategies and guide links on trophy hunting. Check it out!

5 Keys to Living the Good Life

I know this is not the usual stuff I write about, but considering I've spent most of my life playing games and watching TV, I thought it was appropriate.

Who knows how much time we have here on this earth, not just as individuals, but as a race in general. I've decided to write another personal labeled article, and this one is probably going to be one of the most important things you've ever read, or I hope you give it some thought.at the very least.

This is a top 5 list I've been thinking about for awhile now and it's finally ready to be shared with he rest of the interwebs. Please give it some thought. Following these simple ideas has seriously changed the way I live my life each day.

Netflix Canada Content Update

These Netflix Canada updates have proved to be fairly popular and I always seem to get a nice traffic spike shortly after posting these. So, here we go again with our third Netflix content update post. This list doesn't cover absolutely everything that was added, just the shows and movies that I recognized or things that I'm interested in checking out. Y'know, things people might actually care about. Enjoy!

Lost Re-Watch / Season 1 - The Moth

Love "The Moth". Charlie has such interesting episodes. After watching The Moth, I realized how different each Charlie centric episode really is. Drug addiction, religious themes, relationships and family issues. I know a lot of viewers got tired of the Charlie centric's but I love 'em. The Moth was an excellent way to get people invested in the Charlie character from the get go.

Overcoming Writer's Block

Lately I've been stricken with serious writer's block and so my posts haven't been as lengthy or frequent as they were before. With the holidays on the horizon and no money to buy all the new games coming out, I haven't felt like writing about anything. Feeling some serious writer's block here, and so I've decided to do a brief post on just that, writer's block and how to overcome it.

World of Borecraft

I tried. I played for about 3 weeks and then grew very bored of the game. Same as always, I play for a few weeks and don't re-subscribe to the monthly fee for the following month. It's happened twice before and I probably won't be going back to the game, even after the Cataclysm expansion releases next month.

I am however extremely excited for the future of MMO's. Games like FFXIV that mostly failed on PC, is releasing for the Playstation 3 next year. My most anticipated game right now is DC Universe Online however, also arriving on PS3 next year.

Thoughts / Final Fantasy XIII

Before I get right into what I think about FFXIII, let me give you a brief history of my experience with the game. FFXIII released back in early March 2010 and I made sure to pick myself up a copy. I played it to completion and obtained 62% of the trophies. My hdd failed shortly after so I lost my save file. I bought a new 250gb drive and started again, only to have my PS3 get the YLOD. Once again I lost my save. Now, equipped with a new 160gb slim PS3, I'm starting again.

Lost Re-Watch / Season 1 - House of the Rising Sun

So here is our first Sun and Jin centric episode. I think I feel the same as the majority of Lost fans, Sun and Jin episodes aren't usually all that interesting. I know Jin is a good person eventually, and Sun has made mistakes, so I didn't really find all that much new in the flashbacks here. The on island stuff however...

Thoughts / The Walking Dead

I've never been much of a fan of zombie themed movies. It's just something we've all seen done to death (pardon the pun) and it's all the same. The Walking Dead isn't any different than any of those movies though. Same old story really. Zombie people infest the earth, you get bitten or scratched and you eventually turn into one yourself, and you gotta shoot 'em in the head. Despite all the familiar zombie stuff, I really enjoyed the pilot episode. Namely because of the extremely awesome character development.

Lost Re-Watch / Season 1 - White Rabbit

*If you haven't seen Lost, don't read further, go out and watch Lost. Major spoilers ahead for the newbies*

Probably the most important Jack episode right next to "316", at least in my opinion. "White Rabbit" sets Jack on a path that begins as the leader, and ends as the savior of the island. Which was a serious character transition that I didn't see coming.

Preview 3 / DC Universe Online

I've been casually following DC Universe Online since it was announced, I wasn't sure whether I liked this new action-MMO idea. I've since read a lot of previews and watched a lot of video on the game, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm sure anyone has dreamed up a world where you're a super-hero, or a super-villain, DC Universe allows you to do just that. Want to be Batman's apprentice and use gadgets? How about work for The Joker and dress up like a clown? Perhaps you want to use the strange force of magic, dual pistols, a staff, or maybe a blast of energy from your hands.

Lost Re-Watch / Season 1 - Walkabout

*If you haven't seen Lost, don't read further, go out and watch Lost. Major spoilers ahead for the newbies*

John Locke has always been my absolute favorite character on Lost. I became very attached to this character over the years because I felt connected to this guy. If I look at it in the third person I wouldn't see anything in my life that resembles Locke's, but somehow I found his personality mirroring my own.

Lost Re-Watch / Season 1 - Tabula Rasa

*If you haven't seen Lost, don't read further, go out and watch Lost. Major spoilers ahead for the newbies*

I am one of the few that always really liked Kate. She was always struggling with the angel and devil on her shoulder and I always thought that made her a more interesting character. You never knew what she was thinking or what she was going to pull next.

Netflix Canada Update

With a fresh 160gb PS3 slim I'm able to get back to my Netflix viewing. I had a run of bad luck there for a bit and was only able to use up half of my free month trial period. I'm back now and I'll be doing an update to what's new on Netflix in Canada.

You can find my previous Netflix content post right here. Hope this is helpful, enjoy!

Lost Re-Watch / Season 1 - Pilot Part 2

*If you haven't seen Lost, don't read further, go out and watch Lost. Major spoilers ahead for the newbies*

In my post about Pilot Part 1 I briefly mentioned how it finally sunk in that Lost was over, and how Lost fans will miss the actors, Giacchino, and comic-con. Thinking about it now though, Lost will always live on inside the Lost fans. I hope the podcasters and bloggers never stop talking about this amazing show.

Got myself a new 160gb PS3 slim

Last night I went to EBGames and picked up a new 160gb Playstation 3. I also used my brothers PS3 to record a silly video of it's unboxing. I think it turned out quite well and I'll embed the video below. I'm quite happy with my new slim PS3 and I feel confident that this PS3 will last me a long time, unlike my big beasty 80gb backwards compatible PS3 that I had before, which I will really miss.

Andy's Thoughts / Boardwalk Empire

Now here's a show I've never actually heard of, but a fellow blogger decided to write about it and submit it for me to put up. After reading his thoughts on Boardwalk Empire I may have to do some searching and see if I can find a way to check it out for myself.

Thanks Andy for your hard work on this article. You can find his blog right here at Around the World. You should do yourself a favor and check it out, this guy travels the world and blogs about all of it. Rome, Korea, Australia. Excellent stuff.

Check out his submission for Boardwalk Empire below.

More Dissidia 012 [Duodecim] Final Fantasy

Looks like more Duodecim screenshots have been released and they look absolutely awesome. Some of them clearly show 3 characters in a single battle, along with some screens showing an "assist!" chance. Glad they are adding some awesome new game mechanics, but ... how the hell does Square-Enix keep squeezing more juice outta this handheld?! More screenshots below.

World of Warcraft / Jerik in Azeroth 4

Character: Jerik Night-Elf Hunter
Server: Ysera
Level: 32
Pet: Level 31 Spider
Working on: Finding somewhere to level

Over the past 5 days I've put more hours into WoW than I'm used to, the big downside is that I've completed so much I'm not sure where to go next.

Rumors: PSP Phone Leak

As seen on Engadget, pictures of a supposedly leaked Sony PSP phone have been released. Apparently this new Playstation Phone will be in the market "soon" and boasts Android 3.0. This device looks an awful lot like the PSP Go, but it is actually significantly more powerful according to the hardware specs.

- 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655
- 512MB of RAM
- 1GB of ROM
- Screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches
- Touch-pad in the center to imitate dual analogs

PS3 / Reviews and Releases - October/November

This edition of Reviews and Releases will cover everything from October 26th -November 16th. Everything from Rock Band 3, The Force Unleashed 2, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Lost Re-Watch / Season 1 - Pilot Part 1

*If you haven't seen Lost, don't read further, go out and watch Lost. Major spoilers ahead for the newbies*

I just had the strangest feeling in my gut. I just finished watching "Pilot Part 1", and as I was going through it, it totally hit me. Lost is over. Some part of me wasn't ready to let go. I guess I didn't fully understand it, despite the series finale airing months ago, until I re-watched that first episode again. Our favorite characters are long gone, there's no more Lost music from Giacchino, no more comic-cons with Damon and Carlton. Lost is over.

World of Warcraft / Jerik in Azeroth 3

Character: Jerik Night-Elf Hunter
Server: Ysera
Level: 28
Pet: Level 28 Bird of Prey
Working on: Questing and Crafting

I feel I've completed a lot in the past couple weeks in WoW. I've only been playing for a few hours a day, and hardly all in one sitting either, but lots has happened. I've switched my professions up, started a second character, and I finally have access to Traps.

Supernatural / Season 4 - Part 4

This last block of episodes made season 4 that much better. I really don't see season 5 being as good as this season was. There were so many memorable episodes and scenes this season.

Dean being resurrected from the depths of hell and using his new hell-earned gift of torture here on earth. Sam going almost fully darkside, keeping important secrets from his brother, just to be become stronger than Lilith. There was also the introduction of Heaven, God, Lucifer, and Angels. Castiel easily being my new favorite character on the show. I could go on and on but let's finally finish up this season and move onto something new, season 5. I have yet to finish watching season 5 since I quit a year ago, so technically this is almost the end of my "re-watch".

Supernatural / Season 4 - Part 3

Let's try to wrap up this excellent season so I can finally start watching season 5. It's exciting to be on the cusp of watching episodes that I have never seen before. I just found out the other day that I've only seen the first 3 or 4 episodes of season 5 on my original viewing before I quit. Paris Hilton made me do it!

Little Big Planet 2 - Beta Gameplay

I could swear that I've already posted an article similar to the one I'm about to write, but apparently I haven't. Little Big Planet 2 is in the closed beta stage right now, and there have been a few astounding videos that have surfaced over the past couple months. The original LBP was one of the best platformers ever created, allowing players to Play, Create, and Share their way through millions of created levels. The sequel looks to surpass the original in every way one could imagine.

PS3 / Reviews and Releases - October

I've decided to change things up a bit and occasionally write articles on upcoming and recently released video games, as well as reviews. The reviews will be from various gaming sites on the internet, and will probably, more often than not, be about PS3 releases. Because PS3 is awesome, 'cept for mine, cause it's broken.

World of Warcraft / Jerik in Azeroth 2

I'm back to write about my travels through the World of Warcraft. The game has been running absolutely smooth since I had all those issues before, which resulted in a much better experience for me.

I don't log tremendous hours into the game, I have more important things that I should be attending to. I haven't felt that infamous addiction that supposedly sets in with World of Warcraft, not yet anyways. Perhaps it's coming.

DC Universe on IGN's 24 hour game-a-thon

This past weekend IGN did a 24 hour gaming session for charity. 15 IGN editors and at least 75 fans took up their controllers as part of Extra Life and played an assortment of new and old video games, on several different platforms, for 24 hours straight. Among these games was DC Universe Online.

Keep in mind that this is still in beta testing and doesn't release fully until Q1 2011. It still got me extremely excited for the Action-MMO.

Supernatural / Season 4 - Part 2

Dean's been to hell and back and Sam's sleeping with a demon, this show has gone in a direction that I would have never anticipated back in the first couple seasons.

We have a serious war going on between the righteous angels and the despicable demon's. While Dean's doing god's work, Sam's using his demonic abilities more and more as Ruby feeds him her blood to make him stronger. These two characters have gone in such different directions, yet are still together and trying to fight the same opposing force.

World of Warcraft / Jerik in Azeroth 1

I started as a Night-Elf Hunter on the Ysera server, I'm currently level 13 and things are going quite smoothly so far.

As of last night I was finally able to log into World of Warcraft. Pretty much proving that it was an issue on Blizzard's end and not so much my end. The character I started a few days ago also appeared suddenly so I could pick up where I left off the other night. The only issue I'm experiencing since the patch is a huge drop in frame-rate about every 10 minutes of playtime. It's very strange, but not currently game breaking. I'm hoping they get things sorted out before too long.

World of Warcraft Troubles

Last night I had WoW all set up to play. Lots of installation, lots of downloads and patches, but only got to play for roughly 30 minutes before the servers were shut down for maintenance. Which was probably for the best because it took until about 2am last night/this morning to figure it all out before I could log in properly. Today though, things have just went downhill.

My Playstation 3 Died... Again

July 8th, 2009 I was playing Guitar Hero: World Tour and my system froze up, beeped three times, then proceeded to shut down completely. Upon trying to turn the system on again it beeped and briefly flashed a yellow light. It cost me $190 CDN to get it fixed from Sony, and after paying $650 for my PS3 originally, my hobby is obviously too expensive. Jumping to today, October 11th 2010, Thanksgiving, it's happening all over again.

Preview 2 / DC Universe Online

I'm making up for all that writing I didn't do this week while I was sick. Had a great night hanging out with my family for Thanksgiving as well as watching an awesome hockey game. So I'm in a great mood and thought I'd check out what I've been missing this week in gaming news. I stumbled across these DC Universe character creation videos on Gametrailers.com. Final Fantasy XIV may turn out to be a sub-par MMO experience, but DC Universe has me more excited than ever.

Preview / Marvel Vs Capcom 3

When I was very young and growing up in a very small town, I lived near an arcade. I wasn't all that into video games at the time but my dad took me there once or twice. I have a vivid memory of my sister being helped onto a motorcycle arcade game to try and drive. Although she couldn't have been older than 4 or 5. I discovered video games shortly after that but haven't really seen an arcade since. I did however, have access to a Marvel Vs Capcom 2 arcade unit at a local convenience store many years later.

Thoughts / The Event

I haven't wrote all that much about The Event so far, but don't let that confuse you, I'm just having a hard time processing everything they've shown thus far. I thought this weekend (Canadian Thanksgiving) would be a great time to share my thoughts and theories on what's been going on with this fresh new series.

Supernatural / Season 4 - Part 1

Being sick in bed for about a week means that I had more time to watch Supernatural. After watching somewhere around 10 episodes so far this season, I can definitely say that this season is my favorite so far. I still can't believe the show went in this direction, but I absolutely love it so far.

Dexter / Season 5 - Episode 2

I've been pretty sick this week so it's taken me awhile to get going on writing some articles. I just watched Sunday's Dexter though and it got me out of bed to write about it.

We finally have the true start to the season's story arc with a case for both Dexter and his co-workers to solve. I actually forgot that we didn't really have a season arc started yet from last episode. Read on for the details on what I thought about the second episode of the season.
