NHL 11 Demo

I played the hell out of NHL09 on my PS3. This was the perfect NHL game, except for the lack of trophies. When NHL10 was released I made no hesitation to buy it, but I was disappointed in some ways. There were a few horrible bugs, EA was trying to force you to buy ridiculously expensive stat upgrades for online play, and the two new additions of first person fighting and the Be a GM mode did not interest me at all. The bugs never got fixed either, so I've been extremely hesitant in even keeping up with what NHL11 was going to offer.

I downloaded the NHL 11 demo yesterday through the Playstation Network and this game seems quite different than what I'm used to, in a good way, a very very good way. I haven't been keeping up with the game this time so I don't know what's officially been changed or added, but here are some things that I noticed that impressed me.

 1. This demo doesn't have a timer or kick you out after a game, it also let's you play with a couple different modes

2. One of those modes includes a card collection game. Which is something I'm interested in seeing more of.

3. Disallowed goals, and goal reviews.

4. Faceoff's are incredibly deep now, you can even changed how you hold your stick right before the puck drop.

5. Custom goal celebrations. Kinda neat.

6. Sticks break on the ice! Finally.

7. Not really sure how it's different, but I've played enough NHL9 and 10 to know that something is different with the passing, maybe it's just me. Pressing and holding R2 to pass just feels right this time. Maybe there were some adjustments.

I'm pretty sure I'll be picking this game up on September 7th, I'm really anxious for the hockey season to start anyways. I need something to help get me through these last couple months before I can watch my Leafs again.

  2. Yeah, I keep getting more and more to write about. Plus new design ideas, and I'll probably be moving the site somewhere else soon. I purchased http://www.robertchapman.ca so you can always use that to get to this site :)
