The original Parasite Eve was one of my favorite games on the old PS1. I don't hear enough about it from gamers nowadays though, but I think the gameplay even holds up with today's RPG releases.
Square-Enix may be making every single one of their franchises action oriented for the twitch gamers out there (Thanks Call of Duty! You're awesome) but believe it or not, they used to be known for their RPG elements. I didn't enjoy Parasite Eve 2 very much, they took out all the things that I loved about the first one. Parasite Eve had a very intriguing story, customizable weapons and equipment, excellent music, an equally excellent battle system, and some truly amazing CG scenes for it's time. The second one didn't really keep my attention for long.
Tetsuya Nomura, character designer for games such as Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts, and Parasite Eve, recently tweeted that he'd love to see the Parasite Eve games up on the Playstation Store before the release of The 3rd Birthday, which is the 3rd Parasite Eve game.
Yoshinori Kitase, who's directed games such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII and is working as a producer on the upcoming Final Fantasy Versus XIII, also recently tweeted that "The team had a lot of experience and knew a lot about making a game for PSP which is why we chose PSP as the platform for this game, but if this game turns out to be a success then we'd be looking at extending the franchise into PS3."
I remember hearing about a 3rd Parasite Eve game years and years ago, but I was sure it was going to be for the Playstation 3. I have no problem with it going to PSP though, and I know it'll be all shooter and less RPG, but Square-Enix pulled off Final Fantasy Dissidia as a fighting game, so I have high hopes for The 3rd Birthday. The 3rd Birthday is releasing in 2011 for the PSP.
yeah the original parasite eve freaked me out like gave me nightmares lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, just the music alone eh? I'd love to play this as a PS1 classic on my PSP :)
ReplyDeleteyeah me too i'd like to give it a try on the psp
ReplyDeletethe music had a chilling opera kind of sound kinda reminded me of castlevania at times but it seems like ages since i saw you playthrough it
ReplyDeleteYeah it's been a long time. I went through a couple hours of it recently on my computer, like maybe 2 months ago. Since it doesn't need two analogues or the L2/R2 buttons, I'd love to play it on my PSP
