Impressions On The FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Test

FFXIV: ARR
16 months is quite a long time to go without writing anything. I needn't go into too much detail in regards to what kept me away for so long. Suffice it to say that I have lacked the motivation to do much of anything of importance when it comes to my writing or drawing.

Not exactly sure what really changed this morning, but I feel some semblance of inspiration to write. It perhaps has something to do with getting up early. I seem to have a little more energy than usual as a direct result. So I guess it's time to focus that morning energy towards my topic for today; Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Final Fantasy XIV Releases Today

Today is the day. If you have a decently powerful PC (Unlike me, I need to wait for the PS3 release next year) then you can go out right now and pick up Final Fantasy XIV for PC. This Massively Multiplayer Online RPG promises to give you a Final Fantasy experience that you could potentially play for years. This game is truly massive with an equally massive amount of things to do. Fishing, crafting, socializing, questing, gathering, and all the usual MMO type stuff. Of course battling it out with the indigenous creatures is at the heart of the game. As should always be expected, Square-Enix puts it's own spin on all the usual MMO staples. From the guildleve questing system to the unique way you change your job classes, if you have any interest in Final Fantasy or MMORPG's then you owe it to yourself to give this game a try. As for myself, I'm anxiously awaiting the Playstation 3 release in 2011.

Final Fantasy XIV Opening Cinematic

The opening movie for Final Fantasy XIV has been released in it's full length glory. Is it ever freakin awesome. The quality is exactly what anyone should expect from Square-Enix and totally reminds me of the proper balance of technology and fantasy that was Final Fantasy VI (FF3 on Super Nintendo) Check out the video and leave your thoughts on it in the comments please.

Final Fantasy XIV at PAX

Some boring Square-Enix guy gave a presentation at PAX this weekend, showing off some great FFXIV gameplay and cutscenes. I can only find two parts to this video at the moment, but I'll add part 3 if it shows up. It seems to get cut off. Square-Enix has gone above and beyond what any dev has done with an MMO before. I'm sure that the other two starting city-states have great opening scenes, but I really want to start in Gridania now because of this video.

Final Fantasy XIV Beta Videos

Final Fantasy XIV, god knows how badly I want this game on my PS3. I've been following podcasts and articles for over a year now and like to think I pretty much know how it all works. So I'll be posting a bunch of my favorite videos found around the web on this here page. You can also check out the Crystal Core Podcast from FFXIVCORE.com for more information.

Final Fantasy XIV Pre-Release Trailer

I only found this video a moment ago, but it completely blew me away. I don't think I've ever been so hyped up for this new Final Fantasy MMO as I am right now. The music, the cut-scenes, the battles, all are equally epic in this trailer. Check it out below.

Final Fantasy XIV fans freak out, SE responds. Also, new FFXIV Video!

I've been reading more than a few negative articles from sites like PSXE and Eurogamer on FFXIV. Some translated information came out around the time Gamescom was going, they are about how players gain experience in FFXIV. Or rather, how you don't gain any after so much playtime. I didn't believe the details for a second. Even though Square-Enix hasn't been good to me over the last handful of years, I don't believe they are stupid.

Final Fantasy XIV Screenshots

I've been following Final Fantasy XIV since it was announced at E3 last year. Due out September on PC and 2011 for PS3, FFXIV is going to be taking up a lot of my time. I've accumulated a boat load of screenshots, all of which are available for browsing on my Facebook page. I've decided to write a brief post containing all of my favorite screenshots so far. Enjoy!

Eorzea: The Making of a Realm #4

This video I've pasted below is pretty stunning. I can't wait to get into Eorzea, I'm planning on running a second blog just for this game.

I'll be posting updates most likely every single day, along with screenshots as long as the game is capable of taking them. Final Fantasy XIV releases for my PS3 sometime next March, the PC gets it as of September 30th (a little earlier if you pre-order the collectors edition)

Preview / Final Fantasy XIV

Since 2004 I've played Final Fantasy XI on my PS2. That's a single game for about 6 years, on an aging system no less. Although I've played on and off for those 6 years, it's still hundreds of hours that I've invested. Why? Because Final Fantasy XI is hardly the game it was 6 years ago. What does that mean? MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game's) add new content almost on a monthly basis, therefore keeping things fresh. Not to mention that there is always something new to work on. It could be a new job class to try out, quests, crafting, or helping friends/new players, etc.
